Alves Moves To Qatar - Date: 7 Sep 2009Afonso Alves has completed his move to Qatar joining Al Sadd for a fee of £6 million.
The 28-year-old has joined on a 3 year deal.
Alves joined Middlesbrough FC for a record fee of £12.7 million from Heerenveen in January 2008 and managed 10 goals in 42 appearances.
Afonso Alves said: "It's a great honour for me to join a good team like Al Sadd who are one of the best clubs in Asia."
"I'm looking to be the top scorer of the Qatari league next season."
"I want to have great success with Al Sadd just like I did with Heerenveen in Holland in 2007 where I scored a lot of goals and I hope that I can do the same with Al Sadd."
