Boateng Set For Move - Date: 22 Jun 2008

George Boateng is expecting to leave Middlesbrough this summer with Celtic and Rangers set to place a bid for the Midfielder.

Boateng says that there was interest in him in the January transfer window, but Southgate didn't let him talk to the clubs. However it now seems that the Scotish clubs will be approaching him again.

Boateng told the Scotish Sun, "before the transfer window opened five clubs were seriously interested in me."

"Two of the clubs were from Scotland and you can guess who they are."

"I wanted to talk to these clubs, but Southgate didn't allow it. I am very unhappy about this."

"The situation is difficult, but my time at Middlesbrough is at an end."

"I am told both Glasgow clubs will come back for me this summer."

Boateng would seem to favour a move to Celtic, linking up with his former boss Gordon Strachan who he played under at Coventry.

Boateng later on in the day told Sky Sports that he doesnt know where those comments came from and that he hasn't discussed his future at Boro.
