Gibson
I'm sick of hearing those media pundits praising Gibson for being a brilliant Chairman. Yes, he's been good in past years but for the last two, he has been single handedly destroying the club. Selling off the only decent players we have left at the club resigns us to lower league football for many years to come. The good times are well and truely gone now.

RE: Gibson
Totally agree, he was good once over but not now........and lets not forget the man who really saved the Boro, as people always do....Henderson.

RE: Gibson
His brilliance has come about basically because he never sacks completely incompletent people. The brilliance was further enhanced because he splashed lots of (the club's) cash (resulting in our now almost bankrupt state).

RE: Gibson
He has also single handedly funded our success for the past 15 years also. The man doesn't have a bottomless pit and the simple fact is that he can't keep bailing us out. He's had to pull the plug on crazy finances to ensure the future of our club and whilst some of his gambles (Alves) haven't paid off and we're suffering because of it, you just can't deny the fact that we've been losing money every year for the past 15 years.
The TV money in the Premier League pays your players wages for the year, after that your ticket sales and shirt sales pay for the rest plus the deep pockets of your chairman. Our Chairman can't afford to just throw cash away and needs to make the club run correctly as a business. Nobody likes it but that is the truth of the matter - we just can't afford to be paying those wages and losing money. Would you prefer some foreign oil tycoon to come along and fund our club? Decide who does what with his money and treat it as a play thing only to leave a few years later once he's bored? |

RE: Gibson
Steve Gibson and Keith Lamb make me feel sick! They fed us all this shite that we were 'financially competitive at this level' and that 'we didnt need to sell players' and that 'we were going to have a better squad this year than last year' leading up to season ticket sales. And now with season ticket sales passed what is coming out of the club?
1) We have accepted offers for in my opinion our two best players with one of those, Huth, being the main ingredient for our good start to the season. 2) We are selling youngster like Josh Walker and Andrew Taylor. 3) We are planning to replace our best players with free transfers and shite like Danny Webber, Bobo Balde etc.. They are treating the fans like muppets. Feed us shite, take our money and then sell our best players. We honestly don't stand a chance this season and for once it has nothing to do with Southgate. I actually feel really sorry for Southgate now. He wants to turn round his management career by bringing us back up but is not being given any chance of doing so with Gibson selling our best players just days before the deadline. I remember writing an article last year saying that I would never want a foreign chairman and preferred having a chairman who cared about the club but to be honest I think even a foreign chairman from the middle east would show the fans more respect than Gibson is currently. I could actually throw up thinking of what Gibson and Lamb have done to us. f**k AWAY OUT OF OUR CLUB STEVE GIBSON!! PS Apologies for the language used in this post. It is a bad bad day for Middlesbrough FC and I need to let out my anger! |

RE: Gibson
Hang on - these guys buy the clubs and don'y just walk away, they sell them. They sell them to people who can afford to buy them. Why do you people have such a dogmatic view on foreign ownership. YES I would rather be bankrolled by a person who can afford to buy the types of players we need to compete. What other answer is there? How would you suggest we compete with the big seven or eight clubs - because as you, and many like you, have pointed out -we cannot afford to do that.
We are where we are now because Gibson has given us the club we deserve - one we can afford. I would rather someone with some money was in charge - we wer'nt complaining when we thought Gibson was a money bags. ![]() |

RE: Gibson
I have to agree with starbuy. Without Gibson we wouldn't be the club we are. I'm proud of my team and I'm proud of my chairman. Whenever I meet people and tell them who I support, the first thing they say is you have the best chairman in the world.
I don't blame him for protecting the club. We are not just a football team, we are a business. |

RE: Gibson
The sales of Huth and Tuncay (maybe Taylor) are very disappointing and I'm gutted too - but we all have to live in the real world.
I have to agree with StarBuy on this. I believe he's got it spot on. |

RE: Gibson
I can't believe the nonsense I'm hearing people come out with!
Gibson isn't "destroying" the club, he's ensuring we have a club!! Do you really really believe Gibson is intentionally dismantling everything he has spent 20 years of his life building???? You would have to be clinically insane to even think thats what he is doing! We have been struggling finincially for years and if it continued, we were fuc*ed, he is simply doing what needs to be done for us to remain a town with a football club. Towards the end of last season, when we were still fighting for survival, people on the EG forum were predicting a MASS exodus of players if we got relegated, so if Huth, Downing, Tuncay, Alves and Mido leaving has come as a shock, i ask you... HOW??? In fact, the only shock has been, we've managed to get the start of this season out of a couple of them. Face it, when everyone calms down, they will realise this was inevitable, it just took longer than we expected. I'm still gutted we lost Huth, but I don't think it's because Gibson WANTS to destroy MFC, thats just illogical!! |

RE: Gibson
SkySports asked Southgate "So If you sell Huth and Tuncay to Stoke can you bring anybody in" Southgate response "I Dont know".
The reason we are selling Huth is because we have both Riggott and Poggi at the club, mmmmm yeah, injured. |
