Sack Southgate.
Twice in 8 days we have now been shown that Boro are sinking faster than the Titanic.
There are holes everywhere you look in the team. In defence we are lacking experience and today it showed. It also doesn't help to build a defence up by putting a goalkeeper in behind them that fluffs at every ball that comes his way. To his credit Jones is ok with distance shots, but set pieces and goalmouth scrambles he hasn't got a clue and panics. Last season he cost us badly and this season looks like it could be the same,as long as Southgate keeps selecting him. We really need to sack Southgate, forget about waiting till christmas . RE: Sack Southgate.
You know what - nothing will happen - because Southgate comes out and spouts his usual crap and Gibson sits there allowing the situation to go further and further downhill rather than admit he is wrong. It is bullshit. We will have the usual rubbish about how Southgate has had it so hard and had to sell himself in order to pay wages. Bollocks!
Gary Gill spotted the problem today, yet Southgate made no tactical changes till the damages was done and we had hit the panick button. I'm sure there must be a job for a pundit out there - for crying out loud - even Trevor Francis can do that! I can't wait to see the rationalisation for this one. ![]() |

RE: Sack Southgate.
No doubt you guys will now be told by the usual blind idiots that you are wrong and southgate is brilliant. The guy just does not have a football brain and never will have. He will NEVER be a good manger.

RE: Sack Southgate.
The thing that makes me laugh is I have just watched the perfect man for the job.
When Newcastle do eventually get sold Chris Hughton knows he won't have a job. So FFS Gibbo take the bull by the horns and pop up the road to St James and offer Hughton the job. His CV reads excellent and he as been at two top clubs and served as caretaker manager in both. For me he would be the type of guy to step in the breach and take Boro back into the P/L. RE: Sack Southgate.
Sarge - I wouldn't want Houghton to replace Gareth if we do get rid to be honest. In my opinion he's never quite cut it as a number 1 until Newcastle dropped down a division and isn't he a similar sort to Gareth that can be manipulated by those above him at a club?
I'd love to see Paul Ince at the Boro, Alan Curbishley (what's he doing these days) or Mogga (missed the boat with him though unfortunately). 'I would not be bothered if we lost every game as long as we won the league'. |

RE: Sack Southgate.
Ince would be a good shout I think. He wasn't given a fair crack of the whip last season, didn't he get sacked after about 10 games? He can lose that many consecutively at boro and not worry about losing his job.
Maybe we should stop thinking of alternatives mind, what will all those retards say now instead of "who would you replace him with though?" as if it is some sort of brilliant defence of southgate. |

RE: Sack Southgate.
Hi Mattan.
I only say Hughton because of what I see out there on the pitch. He as got the players believing in themselves again and his tactics are good. Also I feel he wouldn't need a small fortune to spend he has proven twice he can walk into a changing room and work with what he is given. I also feel that he as got Smithy playing some cracking football from midfield. Something I said about Smithy a season and a half ago. That he would make a great midfield ball player and creator. Obviously I was laughed at on the EG. But you know me I like to be different. ![]()

RE: Sack Southgate.
If I didn't already know what the score was, reading the comments and the outcryings after this game I would have thought it had been another heavy defeat.
Before the game I would have happily settled for a draw at Coventry, especially after last week. There are obviously confidence issues through the team that have carried over from last season. In the same way that every Boro fan knew that we were going to crack under the pressure today, how many of those players on the pitch knew the same, especially after last week and the amount of times last season we surrended to late goals. We are lacking experience on and off the pitch. We know that Southgate will be there till Christmas, and come on lads we know he's going to be there come next May. He does have issues with his tactics, we've seen that time and time again with his choices of team, his buying, playing people out of position. At any other club he'd have been out of a job, at any other club Robson and McClaren would never have have got as much time as they did. I think the best we can hope for is someone coming in to support him, like Venables with Robson. It would appear Smith has made absolutely no bloody difference at all... and have we actually appointed someone in Crosby's previous role? It's harder to get rid of Southgate now, we are currently 4th in the league, the time to have got rid was last season when we were in freefall. I can't really bring myself to proportion any blame on Gibson though, for me the guy is a legend, he just has a bit too much loyalty for the managers he appoints. Boro 'til I die |
