2012/13 Dream Team

After a few excellent signings with plenty more seemingly in the pipeline, things are looking up! Based upon players that we have signed, players that we might keep and players that we realistically might eventually bring in, what kind of team do you think you'd like to see this season? And, even though it's still very early days in so many respects, do you think that it's a team that could potentially genuinely consider itself as competitive for promotion this season?

For what it's worth (very little), here's my current input...

I imagine that we'll see one big exit at some point - Bailey being the most likely, in which case Leadbitter would probably fill that void with perhaps Haroun and Carayol too starting in slightly more advanced positions - but, regardless, the squad is starting to look pretty tasty in my opinion, and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to summon up any pessimism! Obviously there is a fair amount more work to be done though with a few names still to be hopefully snapped up imminently...

Indeed.

Obviously I clearly wouldn't always want that to be the case. Injuries would often dictate that situation. And if we didn't re-sign McMahon then Parnaby would start.

But the logic behind it is basically having a team and bench that facilitates a competent replacement in all positions should any injury occur during a match. If someone limps off after 10 minutes I can see how the team could be reshuffled so that each position is still very strong and not effectively patched up. In my opinion including Parnaby would result in a more important bench position going missing. Though, honestly, I'm still not convinced about my stance here.

As for my team itself, I do think it lacks width (in the starting 11 anyway). But it's tough to name out-n-out wingers with essentially 3 strikers in the starting line-up. But I still like it. Perhaps if Ledesma weren't considered as a starter, with Jutkiewicz and Emnes as the 2 strikers, then proper natural wingers (which I assume we're signing) could be included.

I like your team by the way. But Bates will definitely still be injured at the start of the season and I prefer Rhys at CB.
