Predictions League 2012/13 Round 1 - Saturday 18th August 2012

General guidelines

This season the oneBoro Predictions League will operate in a similar manner to last year - with some tiny alternations

As in previous years, a fixture article will be posted every Monday for the following Saturdays' fixtures. This fixture article is being posted early as it is the first round.

A results article will be posted on Saturday evening.

Between now and up to and including Saturday 17th November 2012, participants will not be predicting against another member each week. Instead predictors will have their scores accumulated every week to form a league table. I.e. if Boro-unger scores 10 points on week 1, and 5 points on week 2, his total score after 2 weeks will be 15. This compared to everyone elses scores will give Boro-unger his current league position.

Points will be scored in the following manner. 2 point for a correct prediction of a fixture, and 1 point for the correct first goalscorer in each fixture.

Note: you can also state 'no goalscorer' or 'own goal' however you would not need to state the scorer of the own goal.


Then Matchplay
From Monday 19th November 2012, this accumulated points scoring league will be split into 2 (or 3 depending on the number of participants) Divisions of equal size. The members in each Divison will then play against each other in a matchplay style competition (i.e. each week you play a different predictor).

So come Monday 19th November 2012

Either; Division 1 will be formed from the predictors in the top half of the accumulated league, with the bottom half forming Division 2.

or, if with have a larger amount of participants; Division 1 will be formed by the top 3rd of the accumulated league, Division 2 by the middle third, and Division 3 by the bottom 3rd.

The overall Champion for the 2012/2013 season will be the winner of Division 1.

A Prediction League Cup will also take place starting late 2012/early 2013.


But firstly to the now. Each participant will have until 2.00pm on Saturday 18th August 2012 to predict the result of the following 10 fixtures, along with the first goalscorer in each fixture.

Each result predicted correctly will earn you 2 points, with 1 additional point available for each correctly predicted first goalscorer in each match.

As last year, there currently is no limit to the number of participants. Participants will also be allowed to join during the season, but will start from 0.

Any non-predictions will score you 0 points, but you will not be initially removed from the league during the course of the first half of the season if you do not predict on a chosen week.

However, on Monday 19th November 2012, any persistant non-predictors will not be granted a place in any of the Divisions when the 1 league splits into 2 (or 3) Divisions.

Over the coming weeks I will keep all members informed on how many Divisions (and how many members will be in each Division) so you will know what position you will need to target to make it into Division 1 for example.
