I try to keen an objective and unbiased view when I talk about Johnson to non-Boro supporting mates

Still ends up with me ranting about how much I like the guys as a player. He consistently made an impact for England/City when given the chance, which is usually 10 mins or so at the end...

The Makems must be happy with how their day has gone.

Isn't he a Sunderland lad? TRAITOROUS B***ARD Tongue

RE: Johnson
I actually feel a little bitter about this. I'm not local, so I guess the rivalry thing doesn't impact me quite as much. But the thought of one of our best youth products doing the biz for the enemy is pretty painful!

Having said that, good luck to him. He's a Sunderland fan at heart and deserves regular first team football, so it's a great move for him. Genuinely expect him to do very very well.

Oh, and he WILL be in my fantasy football team without a shadow of a doubt. He always was going to be regardless of who he signed for! At least it wasn't Newcastle.

RE: Johnson
what doesn't look right is "invest in Africa"... surely Sunderland needs investment first Big Grin

yeah, doesn't sit well - can't really think of him as our prodigy that much any more! wonder what Downing is thinking

2plus2 - "fantasy team" was pretty much my first thought, ha

RE: Johnson
It depends on what you believe ... He is either a Sunderland fan (more likely) or a Man United supporter.

I'm pleased he has left City as he has too much talent to be a part timer there but him joining Sunderland just doesnt sit well with me.May be I'm confused why a big Premiership club didnt come in for him, or could they have been put off by his £80K a week wages. Sunderland are showing some intent with their signings but Im not convinced they will be top 10 next season.

RE: Johnson
I don't know how any Boro fan could begrudge Johnson. He is clearly a talent who was unfortunately too big/good for Boro so we had to sell him. He probably moved too high too quick and found himself at a daft club where they have an enormous squad of world class players which makes it difficult or any good English player to get an extended run.
He belongs in the premiership, he maybe isn't consistent enough for the top 4 but he will improve pretty much any other team in the division. He is Sunderland initially, before he was Boro. They are possibly the only club willing to pay for him and his wages. Fair play I him, I wish him all the luck in the world, hope he is a success and cements himself a place in the England side.

have you seen her? have you heard? the way she plays there are no words...

Johnson's family outside parents were Sunderland fans, i actually believe he was a newcastle fan as a kid.

All means nothing as its a job isnt it.

Same. Although nobody on this thread has said they begrudge him.

RE: Johnson
Made a comment before about how I was saddened about him going to Sunderland because whilst he was at City and doing well there was a slight feeling of him still being "one of our own" so to speak but now no longer!

Big GrinBig Grin
Its not the kids fault DS he went to Citeh but really apart from a few excellent games just never fitted in.Under Martin O'Neill I have to say hopefully that he will give his game a big boost and become a regular for England team.Plus also O'Neil will hopefully tell him to stay away from the night clubs.. Big Grin
Johnson and McClean Blunderland will have some speed now.
I wish him well.
