Well judging by the after match interview with Mowbray, looks almost certain the Bennet will be going to Villa before the end of the trtansfer window.

Theyve made a few bids which arent quite what we want, but expect them reach an agreement shortly.

Interesting to know what the offers are

RE: Joe Bennet
I think the quoted 2.5M isn't far off to be honest. Personally think we should only accept 3.5M+ but hopefully this all gets sorted in the next few days so Mowbray can have a bit of time to get his targets in before the window slams shut.

RE: Joe Bennet
Could just be the move he needs really, not been quite the same player as a few years ago. Seems to have gone a bit stagnant

RE: Joe Bennet
Anyone not getting slightly miffed that we've done all this good work bringing in players over the summer and with 3 days of the window left we are about to lose 1, maybe 2, of our main stays in the first 11?

Might bring us some much needed cash but it's no use if you can't spend it, is it?

Agreed, I think £2.5 mill is a total insult. we will talk about Bennett in the same bracket as Morrison brunt etc as one that got away.

Yeah I know. James Morrison has turned into quite the player. Have to say not even I thought he'd quite turn out to be as good as he is.

I've been critical of Bennett, particularly last season, because his defending is not great at times but he then goes and shows signs that he could be a very good defender. IMO he needs another year playing with us to develop that bit more. If we don't make the PL at the end of this season he can go with my blessing and I'm sure the time will be right to test himself against the big boys. Right now he isn't ready.

Villa need experience the state they find themselves in. Bennett isn't the answer.

RE: Joe Bennet
firstly i like joe bennett , a year ago he looked an excellent prospect even near future england class
but , maybe he got carried away a bit with reading his good press reports at that time and subsequently his form dipped . last season he got sloppy in a few games defensively and lost possession in dangerous areas but i still rate him especially in an. attacking sense . if he has already had contact with villa i dont think we can keep hold of him because he will have had his head turned to the image of premiership football and a bigger wage packet . its only my opinion folks not what i want to happen but i just get the feeling that joe is a bit on the impatient side and would make the move

ps 2.5 million for joe, in relation to the emnes fees being branded about is way to low dont give him away , double that and it might soften the blow .

Totally agree, it should be far more. £4 million is the absolute minimum we should accept. I seen today that Jay Spearing is going to Bolton for a fee around £3 million!! And hes nothing special at all!.

RE: Joe Bennet
yeah anything less than 4mil will be really disappointing. I really like the lad. Potential to be a top class full back when he matures more. Plus I have him on the back of last years away kit, one of my favourite jerseys Sad

Hate it when a player leaves a club and you have there name on a kit
