Middlesbrough have sold 10 players who came through their academy system (post 16 years old) for a transfer fee bringing in roughly £32.3m

Total £32.38m

Players who have come through our system have been sold by clubs bringing them in a total of around £51.3m

Very intresting, its a good thread well done. I remember seeing Brunt pretty often as a 16/17 year old because I used to watch somebody I know in the same Boro youth team regularly and he looked quality then so I really didnt understand when we released him. He must have been over looked as the coaches must have rated Downing far higher so overlooked him which is a real shame because now they must really see the likes of him and Graham as the ones they wrongly overlooked.

Does go to show how good our academy is though. The fact if we retained them all (alongside the current gen) we'd have a pretty damn good lineup.

Very true if only we didn't have useless managers post Eindhoven to keep hold of and play them instead of overlooking them and selling them to just waste the money on flops.

Additionally to the list in the opening post the Academy has produced 36 players to make at least 1 appearance for the club.

That is a well compiled list Powlay, and I agree CF that it would make sense that we actually have sell on clauses on our young players; it would continue to bring in much needed income.

This list also highlights the importance of giving the young players a chance, something that Mowbray appears to do.

If the sell on clause is say 10% of the fee above what we sold for it would have only given us a 2mill extra in 16 yrs so not quite the huge bonus youd think

yes but its possible that they of went for more. And £2mill is not to be scoffed at. Especially for a club with a relatively small fan base.

Great read powlay, fills you with immense pride cause I doubt there would be many other clubs with a list like that.
