Matty Bates
MB is recovering very well from his injury and hopefully will be able to train in the next 7 days.
Whilst I would like to see him back at Boro I hope they dont offer him a daft contract. |

RE: Matty Bates
Wonderful news for him, and hopefully us. I've said all summer that I'm convinced we'll be resigning him and that I'm convinced it'll be a good move.

RE: Matty Bates
Thats the problem with matty isn't it.
FANTASTIC NEWS that he's getting healthier. but for the boro, how much is reasonable contract for an excellent defender who realistically could have a season or potentially career ending injury at any time? RE: Matty Bates
TBH I can only see any club that is interested in signing him giving a pay as you play deal at first.
He wont be any close to being match fit for 6 weeks or so. Nice to hear that he is still in touch and socialises with the Boro players. |

RE: Matty Bates
Great news. Whilst I like Bates as a player I cant help but question his loyalty before his injury with regards to him not signing a new contract after we stuck with him through thick and thin with all of his serious career threatening injurys. Which ironically and gladly turned out massively in our favour by him appearing to dig his heels in over signing a huge contract to walk away for nothing.
Also there was rumours at Barnsley that he was in the crowd if he was it would be good to see hes got an interest in our games. Hopefully someone can confirm either way whether if he was there because I am slightly sceptical because from what ive heard the rehab from his injury wouldn't be done any favours from sitting 2-3 hours on a coach either way. If he signs back on for us its great news, but we'll be his only option really so he wont be re-signing for loyalty but for his own means because he knows hes got no chance at a Premiership move and huge wages now. |

RE: Matty Bates
Daft as in a long term contract not linked to how many games he plays.
They should offer him pay as you play type deal but with an agreement that if he plays X amount of games they will give him a longer term deal. He is certainly ahead of schedule but still someway to go before he can play in a competitive match. |
