The best team
As this subject was pretty much brought up in the latter part of the Blackpool M/D thread I feel sure that members must now be thinking about continuity and progression looking ahead and if at last Mogga has found his best team and formation.
Yes I agree that wherever possible he should retain a winning team so will ask other members if they feel that the team that played against Blackburn can now be said as our best team to amount a serious challange for promotion. And if not what tinkering should be done and when it should be done? The forum members "Friend" |

RE: The best team
Lets remember all the criticism our members gave when the teams were announced pre game. Wrong formation, wrong players for the formation Ect, Ect.
For me the formation that brings out our guns the best is 4-3-3 -------------------Steele----------------- Hoyte------Woody------Williams------Friend -----------Thomson-----Bailey------------- -----------------McEachran---------------- -----Emnes---------Juke-------Muzzah----- Arsenal wont spend more than 16 million pounds on 1 player this transfer window.

RE: The best team
Good point Tanksie but we have to take into account that Williams is not available for a long time so sticking to the starting 11 should Mogga attempt to use and start the same team against Derby when we play our next home game or is this our best away starting 11? for players who are actually available for selection

RE: The best team
If we start playing home and away teams we will fall into the same trap as we did last season and one of them will suffer

RE: The best team
I agree, stick with the majority of players and only make 1 or 2 changes unless forced, I'm also think we should adopt a way of playing and try and stick to it, once everyone is onboard then most of it will become 2nd nature, it also makes it easier for a replacemnt coming into the team as he will know what to expect. I like your team Tanksie with Bikey currently filling in for Williams, hopefully we can go on a good run now

RE: The best team
I think last nights team is the best 11 we have until Williams comes back and should only be changed to rest players or if an injury happens. Maybe we should change formation as opposed to changing players

RE: The best team
Emnes wouldn't be in my first 11. I know immediately probably in the minority here, but he's probably the least consistent player in our team and we cannot afford to carry passengers for 3 quarters of the season. If you thought that was controversial, id also replace leadbitter with Bailey. I think there would be more balance in the team with a trio of mceachran, Thomson and Bailey than one containing leadbitter, who is decent at a few things but an expert at none.
Id also like to disagree with the idea that you should stick with a winning team. A winning team can have players that aren't playing so well and have players that are better coming back into the team. I think you should always play your best, most in form players all the time, regardless of the previous result. Performance means more than result long term. Im, not immediately. Stupid auto correct. |

RE: The best team
Emnes needs to be picked at RW though. One thing Boro struggled with last game was threat down the right. Emnes brings pace and dynamism.
Arsenal wont spend more than 16 million pounds on 1 player this transfer window.

RE: The best team
He cuts in field too much to be a winger though.
He had many opportunities on either side yesterday to go down the outside and either passed or cut in every single time. |
