Rhys Williams
I was just watching SSN and listening to people slating Southampton and there extremely poor defense.

Which got me thinking that Rhys was a target for them according to the rumor mill, does anyone think they might make a bid for him in January if he is back playing?

Could we afford to let him go now? with the potential of Bates coming back and the rise of Bikey, Woodgate partnership also with Hines and young Gibson get rave reviews while out on loan and Friend able to play in this position.

RE: Rhys Williams
Dont think they will to be honest, but you never know. Think Rhys is a class act and when fit, alongside woodgate will be our 2 choice centrebacks

Rhys will only leave in the summer if we are not promoted. Don't think we will get an offer that we just can't refuse, and I also doubt that he will move to a club that looks destined for the drop.

RE: Rhys Williams
What's peoples thoughts on having Bates back, are we really missing him?.

As an additional backup/rotation CB then yeah, i'll take him back.. But he is far too injury prone and Bikey is more the player Bates is (in my opinion), Like Andrew said Woody & Williams are are good strong partnership. Only thing i do miss is he was part of that small fraction that was any good in the air.

An on bform bates is as good as anyone in the division. Bates woody and williams would be my 3CBs. And would even allow williams to push into midfield when needed. BUT. We already have woody williams bikey and hines so resigning bates would be a lot of money for a very small improvement

RE: Rhys Williams
If there is one person who would gather interest from prem clubs i think it would be Rhys, he's a top lad and constantly devoted to the game, but he shows alot of passion taking a wage reduction and accepting a 2 year contract. I know the right money will change anyone but if we don't do as well as we all hope then i'd expect a few bids in regardless.

RE: Rhys Williams
Wage reduction? He signed a new 4 year deal on vastly improved money (Well deserved) , I would call it a Downing type deal.Basically if we get promoted at the end of the season he will stay,If not the club will listen to offers from Premiership clubs.

I think it's hard to compare them. I understand where you're coming from, on the whole I've been impressed by Bikey, he's the strong presence we've lacked for a long time, something that Bates doesn't really bring to the table. However, Bikey has a mistake in him, Bates, on the whole, doesn't. They'd complement each other well I think, as Woodgate does with Bikey. It's a nice mix of class and strength (not to say Bikey can't play mind!).

RE: Rhys Williams
i believe he was saying Williams would have signed for a pl team and earned even better wage than the current figure.

RE: Rhys Williams
I wouldn't buy Williams at all for almost any price. I have a feeling he is closer to being a Hargreaves type guy than going a long stretch at full fitness.
