"Things ARE getting better"
Got to say that of late and has been mentioned on quite a few threads recently that there really does seem to be an improvement in the way things are going and optomism is slowly but surely returning regaring all things Boro.
Yes I suppose there will be a few who may knock me down but perhaps the die hard doom mongers may now just be seeing a small chink of light at the end of the tunnel ![]() We all know that Mogga is still not able to field his strongest 11 (whatever that might be) but whatever team he is playing does now seem to be a hard working and industrious bunch and we seem to have turned a corner. Could it be that 3 league wins and current position is clouding my judgement? No I do not think so not now and for the reasons already mentioned and well tbh there is a buzz returning when it comes to either watching or listening to the games. I will admit have been free with moans and groans in the past but what has happened previously has gone and nothing can be done about it but with the way things are AT THIS TIME I believe we can now start being proud of our team and can now appreciate the thoughts and processes of Mogga in what he is trying to do. We look good and for me "things are getting better" The forum members "Friend" |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
while i don't class myself as a "doom mongers", i have openly said that why i think Mogga is good for the team and the area at the moment, i dont still believe he is the guy to take us forward long term if we were to regain a premier place. I hope i am wrong.
Its great we are 3rd,and playing some good stuff and i admitt i am loving it. However, unless we can consistently win nothing will be acheived. As soon as we lose 2 or 3 games, or even the one we are expected to win the real band wagon doom mongers will come on saying told you so. It way to early to suggest things are on the up,but it could be worse,i'm delighted we are were we are, but lets not get carried away just yet. When we are automatically promoted in April by 10 points i'll relax. Its Too Early,or is it? |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
the team we had out against either brighton or hull + carayols pace and jukes goals is good enough to get us promoted , ontop of that williams due back in 2 months means we wont miss woody when he has to be rested .
weve got loads of back up that can see us through short spells , the only fly in the ointment i can see would be a couple of long term injuries to key players |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
Results have certainly picked up despite injuries and it's great to look at the league. But the league is soooo tight that two poor results can dump the team severeal positions. This weekends game, against relegated Bolton with a new manager, is for me the acid test. If we can win our 4th game on the trot against a good team then I certainly believe that we can keep the run going. But we can just as easily slip back into old habits and lose the game and put out a lacklustre display.
Its paramount that Mogga and the team take the game to Bolton and show them who is the better team with a will to win. If they can't do that at home against a promotion rival after three consecutive wins and being three points off top, then I don't think things have gotten better. |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
I am not looking at things through rose tinted glasses nor is this a rallying call and members are correct in what they are saying with their cautious comments but to me things are improving and there is a feel about things. The best thing that happened to us was the loss at Blackpool and at home to Leicester they were real wake up calls

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
Tbh, my main conern is the "way" we've been playing more than the dropped results. We rarely seemed to be pushing on, taking a game by the scruff of the neck and saying come on have a go if you think you're hard enough!...
While we've been getting results, its usually by reacting to other teams and their mistakes rather than enforcing mistakes on them. but we are looking better over the last couple of games and as i've just said in another pot i think we're in a good position to push on when we start getting people back Aquarius Doors - Roller Shutters and Garage Doors - http://www.aquariusdoors.co.uk Armstrong Accountancy - Professional Local accountancy practice - http://www.armstrongaccountancy.co.uk |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
I think we r on the same points as last year at this point only this year we have the squad 2 cope with a few injurys. Can't stress enough how good a job Mogga is doing. And the signing of Woodgate is a master stroke in my eyes. I completely disagree with ballyclover about Mogga I think we will b very lucky 2 hold onto him. Do u not remember the mess that wee Gordon left the club in?? Not only has Mogga halved the wage bill he has put together a squad that can win this leauge on a shoe string!!!! He has a great eye for a player cant really think of any bad signing yet??
From what I've seen of the rest of the clubs in this leauge there is not much 2 worry about. They all have there pros and cons |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
Downsouth I think you are onto something.
I just had a funny feeling at Brighton that we can see where we are going. There was nothing terribly tangible but it may be we have found a way of playing or people who can play in the places/way we ask them to. It was apparent against Hull too I've asked if its team spirit / competence / efficiency or a plan we can live with and understand ? I do not know but I have seen a group of talented individuals achieve nothing much until one player was introduced and for some reason it all clicked. To say they became world beaters would be an exaggeration but by comparison they did. As a team they are solid with few weaknesses and if it looks like going wrong there always seems to be someone who covers the problem. Maybe it is as simple as we are a team now and not a collection of individuals |

RE: "Things ARE getting better"
I think we all expected that, with so many new faces, it'd take some time to bed them in. Like you guys have said it's obvious now they're starting to gel and we're building a great team spirit, and it seems like they actually want to play for the club, not just here for a wage.
