The McDonald Masterplan
Does anyone else think Mowbray has played this perfectly?
1) Play him in pre-season and build him up as the main striker as he bangs in a few goals. 2) Shove him out of the first-team at the start of the season and bring in some other options. 3) Get him fired up and hungry to prove himself to the team whilst training with the reserves. 4) Bring him back and reap the rewards of that determination with goals. 5) Attract the interest of other clubs and then cash-in. I'll be the first to admit that I think Skippy when on form is a good player but if a decent offer comes in we should sell him like a shot. The whole scenario seems to be some sort of cunning plan by Mowbray to get a high-earner off the books but still manage to squeeze goals out of him and benefit us in the short-term. Dropping him at the start of the season might have just been a masterstroke. Am I being crazy or does anybody else think this is a brilliant plan by the management team to both motivate Skippy and in the future find somebody to buy him? Hello little man.... I WILL DESTROY YOU! |

RE: The McDonald Masterplan
Written like that it all sounds good, but there's no guaranteeing a player will have a good season & we're missing Main & Jukey so we needed Mcdonald. Don't think it's been released what the issues with Mogga and him were but i think you're thinking into it too much.
If he has a good season then yeah he might get some interest but being the plan i disagree. Add me on Twitter

RE: The McDonald Masterplan
Things have turned out well BUT for the wrong reasons(im sure there's a famous quote). Its clear Mowbray wanted rid of him but it has fired him up and maybe he needs someone to fire him up to bring the best out of him because he is looking far more clinical this season than he was last season.

RE: The McDonald Masterplan
to be fair, he was scoring freely pre season, not just after his return
No longer in bishop |

RE: The McDonald Masterplan
i think you be giving mogga too much credit there aarfy. Mogga dropped the the ball with skippy and it was blatantly obvious it was only 'resolved' when we had a shed load of injuries. You probably wouldnt have thought of it your way if we hadn't won the last 4. Mogga has done enough good work for us to give him praise, we dont need to be making stuff up

RE: The McDonald Masterplan
Agree with the above. It certainly was not planed.
Arsenal wont spend more than 16 million pounds on 1 player this transfer window.

Had Scott not spoken to him and had boro had anyone who ever had played upfront he wouldn't have got a look in (27-10-2012 07:44 PM)p_mards Wrote: Things have turned out well BUT for the wrong reasons(im sure there's a famous quote). Think he is more clinical as boro finally have wingers and creative players to create chances for him |
