atmosphere
The atmosphere last night from us boro fans last night was simply brilliant. A few sunderland fans have even said how good we were. As a fan who goes to most the away games i know how good our away support is so why is the atmosphere so bad at home games ?

RE: atmosphere
Like you I go to a lot more away games than home and because there is a number not usually exceeding 2000 or so unless like last night we are all together in one place and as an away supporter you have to be heard and we are good at that plus there is a stronger bond with the away fans.

We have discussed home attendances and all the reasosn why things seem poor but it does seem as if The Riverside is getting better atmospher wise and I for one was impressed with the Bolton game and the way the fans got behind the team.

Thats my view on it!

RE: atmosphere
The fans feed off the action on the pitch, it's no co-incidence that the atmosphere improves when the performances are better. Also, it's regularly less than 50% full which won't help.

Like DS said, at away matches, you generally have 2000 die hard fans in one confined space feeding off each other, not afraid to show their voices.

There will be a lot of fans at home games sitting in amongst families in the main stands who would love to chant and clap and shout, but you end up looking a tit doing it by yourself in those areas! Smile

RE: atmosphere
Listening on the radio last night seat allocation was mentioned.
Now a diehard Boro fan I ain't anymore so I am not quite sure how it is at The Riverside.
Are the hardened fans situated in the right area's of the stadium.? and are the away fans put well away from the pitch so that their noise is not so over powering.
Apparently they were talking last night about away fans being put up in the gods, was that what happened to the Boro fans.?
