GS1 vs GS2

This thread has been started because of a great suggestion by cstephenson01.This will hopefully stop other threads getting ruined by the same debate of who was better, Garth or wee Gordon.
Ross Turnbull - benchwarmer

I remember when he left to Chelsea he said he saw he would have as many first team opportunities there then he would have if he stayed at Boro - which I remember scoffing at at the time. Now just read this football blog on Chelsea which claims goalkeepers are the weakest area that the Premier League leaders have. The fact that Hilario, who has not played regular games for god knows how long, comes into goal at Chelsea when Petr Cech is injured must be a sickening blow to Turnbull - especially when you see some of the mistakes his rival has made since coming in. Do you reckon Ross will remain at Chelsea long as third choice? Would anyone be happy with him back in a Boro shirt?
Good Results tonight!!!!

As the title says, there have been some good results tonight for "The Boro" with all the main protagonists around us either drawing or losing - is there still a sniff of the playoffs!!!!!!!! Smile
Preparation for games..

I know numerous times you have read my mails and seen that I have a thing about Boro's coaching staff.
I really have a beef about most clubs coaching/training to be honest with you.
In my time I have stood quietly at the side of pitch's and watched various lads go through training procedures at Palace/Hammers/QPR/Charlton/Leeds, and most of them lads infact I would say all of them have had an ear bashing about their preparation to protection in the game.
No matter if in training or on the pitch against opposition, a player needs protection.
This is why boots should always be worn in training on grass, studs were always checked, shin pads were a must before any of them was allowed to step onto the pitch and kick a ball "preferably all in ones with ankle coverage".
The ammount of pictures I see today in papers of players training with no shinpads and without the corect footwear amazes me.
No wonder players are being injured frequently in training grounds.
If they can't get the simple things right then whats the use.

If you remember in Robbo's days the amount of injured there was in the MFC squad was ridiculous and infact I think the first thing Venners did when he arrived was to make drastic changes to the training and then you saw players starting to put in appearances on the pitch as well has the pubs.

Here is a little article I read the other day its from wiki about a ex Boro player Craig Johnston and his beliefs.
Lets not forget he was the fella that invented "The Predator" boot.

"Johnston was very critical about modern football boot designs, stating they are to blame for the recent spate of metatarsal injuries. He believed that the studs on the soles of the boots do not release quickly enough, meaning that they get stuck in the ground putting extra pressure on the players' already stressed knees, ankles and metatarsals. He also thought that the problem can be solved by designing a smaller stud that doesn't stick to the soil.
...........
I just wonder how long it will take the powers to act on his theory.
Farewell

I would like to thank all forum members for the pleasure participating in some lively and sometimes healthy debate. I can weather personal insults be it grammar or otherwise, it’s properly deserved, however I don’t take character assassination lightly and won’t bow to threats. As a father to five and grandfather too many it’s sickening and degrading that someone based on subjective would insinuate sexual tendency towards children. I have witnessed many things in life but that really takes some beaten. God it’s sick, twisted and perverted to comprehend. For the sake of the forum and getting back to normality I bid you all farewell. If I offended anyone including you BL please accept my apologies.
A Gentle Reminder

Can some of the members read the forums terms of use please just so you can refresh your minds of the do's and dont's on here Smile

Now Im nipping out for 90 mins so whilst I am gone please play along nicely Smile and no bitching, scratching and pulling hair.
Ali..Another blow???

I see that the papers have confirmed that dear old Ali has suffered another blow and will not be playing for at least six weeks due to a broken toe.

Obviously that will be the last we see of him and what an abject way to say goodbye to the clubs fans in all the time he has been here I can only recall a handfull of games where he realy made the difference such a talented boy but how wasteful he was when playing for us. So its farewell Ali thanks for all your time and effort.....NOT!!!

So fellow forum members and apart from Arca as it is so obvious who do you really not want to see at the start of next season
Thank You MFC

Football clubs get a lot of bad press particulalry when it comes to PR so i think it's important to acknowledge things when clubs go above and beyond.

Last week i brought my School U15 team up to Middlesbrough to play a Quarter Final of a National Cup. As we were staying over we wanted to find somewhere to have a training session before the game. I thought i would chance my arm and contacted the staff at Rockcliffe Park and to my great surprise they agreed that we could use the field turf pitch for the session. They were infact apologetic that we couldn't use one of the grass pitches. As i'm sure you can imagine this was an incredible experience for the team and gave them a great insight into the life of a professional footballer.

All of the staff were incredibly friendly and a real credit to the club. As a result of this you have gained a lot of fans and have managed to prove that there are still a lot of strong links with grass roots football.

I wish you all he best for the rest of the season.
Toon fan here, in peace!

Alright guys! How's it going? I'm Scoot from Nufc-forum.com Just wanted to get your opinion on the upcoming game.

Few Questions...

1) What will the outcome of the match be?
2) Which player should we fear most?
3) Which player do you fear most?
4) Who is your worst player?
5) Who do you judge our worst player to be?
6) Which player should we look out for in the future?
7) Where do you think you will finish this season?
8 ) Where do you think Newcastle will finish this season?
9) What do you think the Future holds for both clubs?

I'll be posting your views on our forum on Friday.

Whats wrong ?

Why are we playing so crap , and dropping points left right and center. Why cant we finish teams off , or only play for 45 mins , or just have no idea on how to score goals. This team still has areas where we need to get rid and bring in new blood [ but we keep playing players who should be cleaning boots ]. I think there is something very very wrong at the club , and as in the past mfc arnt saying anything and thats a very bad thing to do . Basics say that you dont have a good team you dont have a club because people will stop coming to watch and that spells the end . So what the hell is going on ,,,, cardif, wba, forest , arnt that good but they make us look like a sunday league side .

Shawky Set For Return To Egypt - Date: 28 Jun 2009

Boro midfielder, Mohamed Shawky, has been linked with a return to his former club Al-Ahly.

The Egyptian star recently scored a goal against Brazil, however he failed to make an impression at Middlesbrough FC.

Shawky is unlikely to play a major part for Boro in the Championship.

"I have spoken to Shawky and he is interested in a return to Ahly," team head coach Hossan Al-Badri told Al-Hayat TV.

"He is still considering an offer from Qatar so everything is far from complete. But we will definitely be doing our best to sign him in the transfer window."
