'Boro give fans the chance to rename the Riverside Stadium for one game'

In the club’s home game against Norwich City later this month, Middlesbrough FC are giving fans the chance to rename the stadium.

Middlesbrough FC are giving fans the opportunity of renaming the Riverside Stadium for the home tie against Norwich City later this month. The club will make this move as a part of a day to showcase and celebrate everything that is good about the Tees Valley.

Boro have been labelling the fixture, which will come at a crunch time for both sides, as Enjoy Tees Valley fixture to celebrate the big events that are heading to the area.

There’s plenty for the local residents to look forward to in the coming months. For instance, the city will host Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Stewart Park on 25th and 26th May.

In addition, the likes of Rugby World Cup and Take That, as well as the Great North City Games, will also be coming to the Riverside in the coming months.

Boro have joined their forces with Enjoys Tees Valley, a local destination brand, and have urged the fans to join the celebrations by renaming the home stadium when Norwich City are in town for a live-televised fixture on Saturday, March 30.

The fixture would be preceded with the local band Cattle and Cane playing Infant Hercules, a song that earns its inspiration from the Teesside. Afterwards, a Tees Valley-themed FanZone will be displaying the Rugby League World Cup trophy.

Also, the entire stadium will be decorated in red and white with 25,000 flags adorning the seats, with the club’s official website reporting that it will organise a special fund-raiser for Teesside Hospice before the game.

"In partnership with Enjoy Tees Valley, we’re planning to showcase why we’re so proud of our region at what will be a huge game in the Sky Bet Championship promotion race," a club spokesman said.

"As flag-bearers for the region, we’re encouraging fans to join us in a celebration of our area at our Enjoy Tees Valley fixture."
