World Cup 1966

Hello,

Phil McIntyre Television is developing a brand new prime-time television series for 2016 which celebrates 50 years since England won the World Cup. This is not a series simply about sport but social history documentaries which explore the impact the tournament had on the country and the host cities of Middlesbrough, Liverpool, London, Birmingham, Manchester and Sunderland.

Our aim is to tell the story of the 1966 World Cup from the build-up right through to the aftermath and lasting effect it had on your city. Who did you support? What impact did foreign fans have on your city? Did they change your view on immigration, travel, food and drink? How did the ’66 World Cup change you and your city?

Although we are a little way off from 2016, I am extremely keen to speak to anyone who has amateur footage and photographs taken during the build up to the ’66 World Cup, the games and the aftermath. I’d like to speak with anyone who has memories of that fateful summer of 1966.

We want to hear from the people who were there. Not just football supporters but those who lived and worked in the host cities. What memories do you have of the time the World Cup came to your town?

Do you remember the build up to the games? What were match days like? Did you form friendships with travelling supporters?

As well as football orientated footage, we are looking for cine film of family events, working life & celebrations which occurred during the summer of 1966. Perhaps you were married on the day of the final or you missed a game because of the birth of your child, or even worked through the matches. Anything that paints a picture of what life was like in your city during the summer of ’66.

If you have a tale to tell, then get in touch! For further details please contact info@philmcintyretv.co.uk

Many thanks,

Phil McIntyre TV
